Starting from February 1, 2009, the "home appliances to the countryside" program will be extended from 10 provinces, one autonomous region and one municipality to the whole country.
Additionally, products including computers, water heaters and air conditioners will be included in the subsidies of the "home appliances to the countryside" policy.
According to the opinion issued by the General Office of the State Council on invigorating circulation and boosting consumption, products such as motorcycles, computers, water heaters (including solar, gas and electricity-driven) and air conditioners will be covered by the subsidies, and the provinces, autonomous regions and municipalities should select which categories of the products to be included in the subsidies based on local demand.
