The prosecuting organs should focus their work on problems people care about most, a senior Chinese official said on Tuesday.
Zhou Yongkang, a member of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee, said the prosecutors should enforce the law for the people and strengthen the legal supervision.
"You should make great efforts to investigate cases of collusion between officials and businessmen, trading power for money, and dereliction of duty and cases related with people's livelihood, in order to safeguard the people's legal rights and social justice," Zhou said.
He urged the prosecuting bodies to find problems through people's reports and petitions and to improve their capability of solving difficult cases through investigating official crimes.
He also urged self-discipline among the prosecutors.
Zhou made the remarks at a meeting of China's Supreme People's Procuratorate (SPP) on improving prosecuting work.
