State Councilor Meng Jianzhu urged police nationwide to further learn and practise the Scientific Outlook on Development and build harmonious relations with people at an ongoing forum.

Meng, who is also the Minister of Public Security, demanded that the police should deeply understand the new situation and changes in the field of social security, push forward their supply of information to the public, further standardize law enforcement and build harmonious relations with people.

Meng said police authorities should enhance their work efficiency and fighting capabilities through introducing more advanced information technologies.

He said enforcing law in a strict, fair and civilized manner is a basic requirement for police duty performance. More efforts should be made to standardize law enforcement, improve law enforcement-related institutions and strengthen supervision on the police's law enforcement behavior.

He pointed out that "putting people first" is the core of the Scientific Outlook on Development, saying that police, bearing people's high expectations, must always have people's interests as their top priority, improve their ability to communicate with the mass of people and build harmonious relations with them.
