The Chinese mainland will work out measures to support Taiwan investors to tackle the global financial crisis and boost economic development across the Strait, said mainland Taiwan affairs chief Wang Yi on Sunday.

"The State Council has made significant policies to fuel domestic demand and boost economic growth, which will also give great opportunities to the Taiwan investors," said Wang Yi, director of the Taiwan Work Office of the Communist Party of China Central Committee and the Taiwan Affairs Office of the State Council.

The mainland will assist Taiwan enterprises to be involved in the infrastructure and major projects construction in the mainland, encourage them to invest in the modern service industry and environmental-friendly industry, and provide financing to Taiwan enterprises, Wang promised.

Wang said at a conference on the economic and trade exchange and cooperation between Hunan and Taiwan that it is the right time to strengthen the cross-Straits exchanges and cooperation in various aspects.

The four agreements just signed by the two sides on direct shipping, air transport, postal services and food safety made the cross-Straits cooperation "stand at a new historic starting point", he said.
