The fourth plenary session of the 17th CPC Central Committee, which started on September 15, will discuss how to strengthen and improve the Party building under the new situation.
According to the resolution made at a meeting of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee, the fourth plenary session of the 17th CPC Central Committee will be held in Beijing from September 15 through 18. The main agenda for the plenary session includes that the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee will report its work to the Central Committee, and discuss how to strengthen and improve the Party building under the new situation. This session, which is being held on the eve of the 60th anniversary of the founding of New China, has attracted particular attention from people in all circles of life. The public opinion believes that this session will discuss difficulties in the Party building and the topics such as developing inner-party democracy and anti-corruption have become the focuses of attention.
Xu Yaotong, director of the Scientific Research Department under the China National School of Administration recently said in an interview with the People's Daily Online (PDO) that the fourth plenary session of the 17th CPC Central Committee has many important points that mainly comprise five aspects: the issue to carefully and systematically summarize experiences and lessons drawn in the process of the Party building; the issue on how to carry out inner-party democracy; further discussions and requirements for some major systems; the issue on the restraint and supervision of power; and the issue on the direct election of cadres. In addition, Xu believes that the session will not avoid the anti-corruption issue which concerns the public.
