Top political advisor calls for proposals on economic transformation

China's top political advisor Jia Qinglin on Saturday called on two non-Communist parties to make proposals on the transformation of economic growth pattern.
Jia, chairman of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC) National Committee, the top political advisory body, made the call in a panel discussion with advisors from the Chinese Peasants and Workers Democratic Party and the Jiu San Society.
He urged the advisors to make suggestions on issues such as economic restructuring, strengthening foundation for rural development and promoting innovation.
Improving people's livelihood should be taken as a priority in assisting the Communist Party of China (CPC) and government to tackle problems of employment, education, medicare, social security and housing, Jia told the advisors.
Jia, also member of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee, said the two parties are close friends of the CPC and a major force of the country's reform and opening up and socialist modernization drive.
