Defense Ministry spokesman Geng Yansheng hosts the ministry's second regular press conference in Beijing, May 25, 2011.

Considering the requirements of training, the People's Liberation Army (PLA) established an "Online Blue Army" in order to enhance Chinese troops' network protection level, said Senior Colonel Geng Yansheng, spokesperson for the Ministry of National Defense as well as director-general of the Information Office of the Ministry of National Defense, at a press held on May 25, 2011.

Network security has become an international issue. It influences not only the social arena but also the military domain as well. China is also the victim of network attack, Geng said.

He added, "Currently, China's network protection is comparatively weak. Enhancing the informationization level and strengthening network security protection are important components of military training for an army."
