Recently, Gu Yuzhou, a student from No.2 Middle School, affiliated with East China Normal University in Shanghai, has an asteroid named after him.

Gu Yuzhou has been working with his teammates to make environmentally-friendly pesticide by using an active ingredient in oleander. After a long period of research, the team identified the unitary composition and structure of the ingredient and studied its function.

This is the initial discovery of this ingredient. The research results have been praised throughout the U.S.; and have been recognized with a first-class award from the American Biological Pharmaceutical Association.

To reward Gu's outstanding performance, the American Scientific Service Society applied to the International Astronomical Union (IAU) and NASA to name a planet discovered in 1998, with serial number of 23758, "Yuzhou Gu." The application was formally approved just recently.
