"The History of China's Science and Technology" series, edited by the Institute of the History of Science at the Chinese Academy of Sciences with the help of researchers all over the country, were published recently by the Science Press.
In the 1950s, famous British scholar Joseph Needham composed the series, "Science and Civilization in China" (Chinese translation entitled "The History of China's Science and Technology"), showing the Western science history community the great achievements in ancient Chinese science; and in the meantime, rocked the Chinese science history community. In 1992, the "The History of China's Science and Technology" project was initiated and approved by the Chinese Academy of Sciences. Led by the former director of the Institute of the History of Science at the Chinese Academy of Sciences, Chen Meidong, first-class scholars spent 18 years completing 28 volumes of the history of science, comprehensive history and related references.
