People's Daily Online launches micro-blog service

People's Daily Online launched its micro-blog service - t.people.com.cn - February 1. It is the first micro-blog launched by a key state-owned news website in China.

Aside from basic micro-blog functions such as information sharing, news coverage, and binding with mobile phones and instant communication tools, the service also allows users to read the content on Qiangguo Forum (bbs.people.com.cn) and other interactive communities on People's Daily Online.

t.people.com.cn also offers "Opinion Polls," "Journalists," "Cool Media" and other characteristic columns. Among these columns, the "Opinion Polls" focuses on micro-blogs written by government officials at all levels, as well as officials from local Party and government departments.
