Brunei Sudan meets with China's FM

Brunei Sudan Bolkiah Mu'izzadin Waddaulah met with visiting Chinese Foreign Minister Yang Jiechi here on Saturday.

Bolkiah said that Brunei and China enjoyed a long-running friendship as well as long-term friendly interactions between the peoples of the two countries.

In recent years, the two countries saw frequent exchanges of high-level visits and the unceasing expansion of their cooperation in the fields such as economy and trade, Bolkiah said.

Bolkiah noted that the Brunei Government attached great importance to its relationship with China and regarded it as one of the most important bilateral ties.

He said that Brunei was willing to continue to maintain and expand the good relations between Brunei and China and further strengthen the cooperation in the fields such as energy, agriculture, infrastructure and tourism.

Bolkiah reaffirmed that Brunei stands firmly to the One-China policy.

Yang said that China and Brunei saw close exchanges of trade and people since the ancient times and the traditional friendship between the two countries developed substantially since the two countries established diplomatic ties 16 years ago.

China regarded Brunei as a good neighbor and good partner and the mutual trust in the political field between the two countries had been deepening, Yang said.

He also said that cooperation between the two countries were expanding in various fields, including economic and trade, and international and regional affairs.

Yang noted that relations between China and Brunei now have entered into a new period of overall development and he believed that the prospect for cooperation between the two countries is broad.
