Six people were killed and 12 others injured in a coach accident on an expressway in south China's Guangdong Province Monday, said the local government.

The coach, carrying 42 passengers, rammed into the railings at 1:59 a.m. on the Guangzhou-Shenzhen expressway, near Chang'an town in Dongguan City, a spokesman of the Dongguan government said on Tuesday.

The accident left six people, including the driver, dead at the site and 12 others injured, one seriously. All the injured people have been rushed to local hospitals.

Driver fatigue and overspeed were blamed for the accident, according to preliminary investigations, said the spokesman.

The coach, heading from Cenxi in Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region to Baoan in Shenzhen, belonged to Guangxi Wuzhou Jinhui Motor Transport Co.,Ltd.
