The construction of the ship lifting facility of the Three Gorges hydroelectric project was temporarily suspended after Monday's strong quake for the concern of workers' safety but resumed on Tuesday.

Li Yong'an, China Three Gorges Project Corporation's general manager, told Xinhua on Wednesday no abnormity was found in the main buildings such as the dam, the five-tier ship lock and workshops after the quake.

A 7.8-magnitude quake rocked Wenchuan County in Sichuan Province on Monday. Many other provinces, including Hubei where the station was located, felt the quake.

The installation of the remaining four turbo-generators on the right bank are under way and will go as planned.

By 9 a.m. Wednesday, no geological disaster triggered by the quake was found in the Three Gorges reservoir area. Navigation near the dam was normal.

The turbo-generators work normally. The station produced 167 million kilowatt hours of electricity on Monday and 183 million kwh on Tuesday.

China launched the construction of the project, a multi-function water control facility in 1993 on the Yangtze River, the country's longest.
