During the auditing period for the Wenchuan earthquake relief money and materials, the auditing commissions will break conventions in some specific cases, and regularly publish the auditing situation to the public, according to the National Audit Office of the Republic of China (CNAO).
Liu Jiayi, Auditor General of CNAO, stressed that the audit will focus on the management of the disaster relief by relevant departments and units. In addition, it will seek to establish a related, sound system for the disaster relief funds and materials management by relevant departments.
The sudden occurrence of the earthquake determined the timeliness of the audit, added Liu. Auditing organs shall be involved in the events and track them from beginning to end. In certain situations, routine regulations shall be broken, and the audit will be published for the public. Emerging problems should be thoroughly investigated, and the quality of the work should be ensured.
