In order to ensure secure and efficient Olympic customs clearance, an Olympic customs security command system has been established.

China Customs will make ensuring the safety of persons and goods a top priority, and increase the checks on Olympic-related cargos and goods to ensure the security of Olympics customs clearance. At the same time, China Customs will feasibly implement every measure for convenient Olympics customs clearance; improve the efficiency and quality of services; create a good customs clearance environment; and do the best to deliver high-level, Olympic-quality service.

Since May, China Customs has been conducting on-the-spot checks for Olympic customs security in Beijing, Tianjin, Urumqi, and other Olympic-related customs and important port customs, to ensure that every measure is implemented. Customs counters throughout the country have set up an emergency communication mechanism to connect with regional port administration offices, public securities and security departments, and organized 622 working programmes and working reserve programmes.. Customs has held 783 Olympic security training courses; trained a total of 24,012 people; and coordinated 369 emergency drills.
