A computer maintenance centre, which is capable of dealing with various computer brands, opened at the Major Press Centre (MPC) and International Press Centre (IPC) on the afternoon of July 21, according to the Beijing Evening News.
This is the first time a computer maintenance centre for global media has been set up for the Olympics. One staff of the centre said they can provide maintenance services no matter what brand the computer is. What's more, a backup computer will be offered for free if the broken one cannot be repaired within four hours.
Set up by the Lenovo Company, the maintenance centre will serve more than 20,000 reporters from all over the world every day from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 a.m. during Olympic Games and Paralympics. Services include hardware maintenance for Lenovo computers and Thinkpad laptops, free virus detection and suggestions on technological solutions for non-Lenovo portable computers, systematic software assistance from off-site professionals, and free back-up computers.
The centre is expected to receive as many as 5,000 reporters during the Olympic Games and Paralympics.
