Since the launch of reform and opening up 30 years ago, the power industry in Tibet has undergone rapid development.

Till now, 69% of the population, or 1.93 million people in Tibet Autonomous Region have access to electricity, representing a fourfold increase than that at the beginning period of the reform and opening up.

At present, the technical and equipment levels of the power grid in Tibet have been raised up to the middle-level in domestic power grids; some equipment has already reached the domestic advanced level.
