At the eighth national conference of the China Film Association on December 25, Zhao Shi, Deputy Secretary and Deputy Director of the Party Leadership Group of the State Administration of Radio, Film and Television, pointed out that in the past 30 years of reform and opening-up, the Chinese film industry has undergone earth-shaking changes and has achieved epic accomplishment.
By the end of 2008, the Chinese film industry has been booming sustainedly, rapidly and healthily.
According to Zhao Shi, 406 films included a good number of fascinating films such as " Forever Enthralled " ("Mei Lanfang"), "Super Typhoon," "The One Man Olympics" and "Migrant Workers." These movies have shown remarkable qualitative improvements, elevated opinions and boosted revenue.
The China Film Group Corporation's (CFGC) digital film production base has been set up and is operating as planned, creating a new brand in the Chinese film industry.
118 new urban cinemas and 570 new screens have been added this year, with an average increase of 1.7 new screens per day. The total number of screens nationwide increases from 1,000 five years ago to more than 4,000 this year.
Compared to 6.5 billion yuan box office revenue last year, the comprehensive revenue of this year from the box office has experienced a 30% rise, exceeding 8.2 billion yuan. The level of cinemas in rural areas is upgraded. The number of rural digital cinemas amounts to 150, 104 of which were established this year. The cinemas are furnished with more than 10000 digital movie shooting equipemnts.
The shooting areas contain 270,000 administrative villages, accounting for 1/3 nationwide rural area. This year, over 2,000,000 digital movies have been shot.
