Baidu employees obtain huge gains through promoting gambling site

Among the top ten cases of online soccer gambling Ministry of Public security released on July 9, the one that Baidu employees obtaining huge gains through promoting gambling website caught wide public attention.
Police say public security organs in Huai'an, East China's Jiangsu province, while investigating the case of "777 Live Casino", discovered that salesman with the surname Wang had transferred large amount of funds to the bank accounts of Lu and Wang , who are employees of the branch company of Baidu.com in Guangzhou.
During the trial, Wang confessed that the funds were the advertisement costs that Baidu should receive. With the help from public security organs in Guangdong, Wang and Lu have been arrested and brought to justice.
Police investigation showed that Wang and Lu, who knew "777 Live Casino" was a gambling site, changed its business scope at the Guangzhou branch of Baidu.com to business agent, and helped promote the site on Baidu.com. Wang reaped some 100,000 yuan and Lu 4500,000 yuan through the illegal conducts.
Now, Lu is under criminal detention and Wang is on bail. The case is still under investigation.
According to the Ministry of Public Security, the management on search engines will be further strengthened so as to prevent the similar cases from happening.
