The National Meteorological Center upgraded the heat alert from blue to yellow on July 28 and predicted that the high temperatures will further spread out to more than 15 provinces, regions and cities on July 29. In addition, the temperature in areas of Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region, Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region and Gansu will exceed 40 degrees Celsius.
Compared with previous days, the high temperatures on July 29 spread out to almost all areas in northern and southern China, and more and more areas are experiencing temperatures over 37 degrees Celsius.
The National Meteorological Center predicted that high temperatures in northern China will continue for the next three days, but the northern areas will soon gradually experience relief from high temperatures as a result of cold air.
Meteorologists warned that the high humidity in the air will cause a decline in the body's ability to perspire and expel toxins. It will also weaken the body’s regulatory functions and resistance to illness. Therefore, people will be more easily subject to heatstroke or other diseases, which may even be life-threatening if they are not treated in a timely fashion.
