The sample engine of the Yuchai 6L-60 Euro VI, China's first automobile diesel engine that meets the Euro VI auto emission standard, has been successfully co-developed by Guangxi Yuchai Machinery Group Co., Ltd. and Tianjin University Combustion Science Laboratory.
The Euro VI emission regulations for new heavy-duty diesel engines are deemed as the current strictest regulations for automobile emissions in the world, which is planned to be put into effect by EU in 2013.
The new engine's successful development signifies that Yuchai group has attained world's advanced level in developing environmentally friendly diesel engine and possesses core technologies in this domain, said Yan Ping, chairman of Yuchai Group.
Yuchai Group is one of China's major research and development centers for diesel engines. It is hailed as the leader of "China's green automotive powers" for its contribution in developing clean and energy-saving automobile machineries.
