China will ensure a completely "clean" competition from its athletes in the coming Olympic Games, said Cui Dalin, deputy director of the State General Administration of Sport, in Beijing Wednesday.
"We will stick to the 'three-strict' principle, namely strict prohibition, strict testing and strict punishment," said Cui at a press conference on the sidelines of the annual session of China's top political advisory body.
The administration has tightened dope testing in the past years, he said. Last year, more than 10,000 samples were tested for doping and severe punishment was imposed on the some individual offenders.
China's anti-doping work has gained international recognition, Cui said, quoting Dick Pound, former president of the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA), as saying that China has set an example for the world to curb doping when he visited China late last year.
China launched its anti-doping agency including a world-level laboratory serving the Olympic Games in November last year.
