Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak on Monday extended reciprocal regards to his Chinese counterpart Hu Jintao.

Mubarak sent his regards to President Hu after the new Chinese Ambassador to Egypt, Wu Chunhua, presented his credentials to the Egyptian leader and conveyed Hu's regards to him.

Egypt, which established diplomatic relations with China on May30, 1956, was the first Arab and African country to recognize the People's Republic of China.
