Chinese Vice Premier Zhang Dejiang met here Tuesday with Craig Barrett, chairman of the Intel Corporation, the world's biggest chip maker.

Applauding Intel's achievements in business development in China, Zhang hoped that the U.S. company would increase economic and technological cooperation with China and play an active role in the country's information construction.

Zhang expressed gratitude for Intel's contribution to China's relief work in the earthquake-hit region. Barrett said Intel would take an active part in the relief efforts in Sichuan Province

Barrett also briefed Zhang on Intel's business situation in China, reiterating its promise and confidence on making investment in the country.

He added Intel would expand its cooperation with China in such fields as research, manufacture, agricultural information and education.
