Kim Yong Nam, top legislator of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK) who will be present at the Beijing Olympics' opening ceremony, wished the Games to be fully successful on Friday.

The success made during China's fight against several natural disasters that stroke the country this year proved the strength of the Communist Party of China (CPC), Kim said during a meeting with a CPC delegation led by Li Jingtian, vice president of the Party School of the CPC Central Committee.

Under the care of the top leaders of the two countries, the traditional bilateral ties have enjoyed a smooth development, said Kim, president of the Presidium of the DPRK Supreme People's Assembly.

He hoped colorful activities will be arranged for the 2009 "DPRK-China Friendly Year" to mark the 60th anniversary of the establishment of bilateral relations, and thus cooperation between the two countries can be further boosted.

The CPC and the Chinese government will work with the DPRK counterparts to enhance bilateral ties, said Li, who gave thanks to the DPRK for its support for China's recent quake relief efforts and the Olympic torch relay in Pyongyang.

The CPC delegation arrived in Pyongyang on Monday.
