On the afternoon of August 2, flight SQ802, a Singapore Airlines A380 model passenger plane, successfully landed in Beijing Capital International Airport. This was the A380's first regular flight between Beijing and Singapore. It was also the first official entry of an A380 into China.
There were 385 passengers and 25 flight attendants on the flight, and among them were members of the Singapore Olympic delegation. Chen Yingliang headed the delegation, which included 12 athletes and 18 officials.
Flight SQ805 was set to leave Beijing at 17:05 on August 2 and to arrive in Singapore at 23:20 local time. The new A380 plane will fly every day from then until August 8, 2008, the week before the Olympics opening ceremony. This will meet the temporary need for an increase in airline capacity for the Olympics. Next week, hundreds of athletes from over 10 countries will take the A380 to come to Beijing and participate in the Olympics.
