Pingfan Hong, Chief for Global Economic Monitoring, Development Policy and Analysis Division of the Department of Economic and Social Affairs, United Nations, is one of the Chinese mainland employees who passed the exam and thus worked in the United Nations after China's reform and opening up. He has worked for more than 20 years at the United Nations. He said that, 20 years ago, there were only about 30 non-linguistic categories of Chinese professionals working in the United Nations, and now it increased to 70 to 80. If the language category of staff and general staff are included, the number of Chinese employees working in the United Nations is even more. In addition to the increasing number of Chinese employees, the work area is also wider, and also with higher quality. He said that no matter in what field, the performances of Chinese employees are very good, their work is wildly recognized by the United Nations, praised by his colleagues. In recent years, some Chinese employees entered the management and serviced as director-level senior officials of the United Nations, through their own efforts, and competition.

Pingfan Hong said that the change of Chinese employees in the United Nations is inseparable with the tremendous achievements of China's reform and opening up. We even need to work diligently, and come up with better work performance.

In the United Nations Headquarters in New York, the varieties of exhibitions with Chinese elements are always able to attract many viewers. Catherine Pollard told the reporter that more and more United Nations employees want to learn Chinese. This summer, the United Nations once again opened a Chinese language training courses for United Nations employees in Nanjing University, with more than 50 United Nations employees participating.
