American-Chinese professionals pledge to promote cooperation between two countries

Members of the Association of Chinese-American Scientists and Engineers (ACSE) pledged on Saturday to further promote U.S.-China cooperation and exchanges in science and technology field.
Speaking at the 17th annual conference of the ACSE in Chicago, the President of the ACSE Zhou Lubo said that the United States and China have common interests in many aspects, such as energy, climate change and economy. The ACSE and its members are in the unique position to help and promote such cooperation.
In recent years, ACSE started to build the U.S.-China exchange platform to bring the opportunities for direct communications between the people from the two sides, he said.
The theme of this year's conference of ACSE is "U.S.-China cooperation and leadership for global economic recovery" .
Secretary of Illinois State Jesse White said at the conference that the conference's theme perfectly summarizes the concerns and solutions that many of us share about the current economic situation.
Jiang Yaoping, Chinese Vice Minister of Commerce said at the conference that with globalization and fast development of new technology, and with efforts of the ACSE members, trade of new and high technology between the two countries will increase steadily.
The Chinese Consul General in Chicago Huang Ping, the Vice Governor of China's Hunan Province Guo Kailang and the Deputy Secretary General of Shanghai municipal government Xiao Guiyu also made speeches at the conference.
Founded in 1992 in Schaumburg, Illinois, the ACSE is one of the largest Chinese-American associations of professionals in the United States.
