Wang Gang, a senior official of the Communist Party of China (CPC), met here Tuesday with a delegation from the northwest steering committee of the Communist Party of Vietnam (CPV).

Wang, member of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee, said both the inter-party relations and the state-to-state ties had enjoyed notable development in recent years.

He said China was ready to work with Vietnam to reinforce the traditional friendship between the two countries.

Wang, also vice chairman of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference, said the traditional bilateral friendship, which was forged by older generation leaders of the two countries, was the common wealth of the two peoples.

Nguyen Van Loi, head of the delegation and member of the CPV Central Committee, said the delegates were impressed by China's rapid development.

The committee, set up in 2004, was designed to map out policies for promoting the development in Vietnam's northwest provinces, and it was also entitled to supervise the implementation of these policies, according to the introduction by officials with the International Department of the CPC Central Committee.
