Liang said at the ceremony that Beijing and Phnom Penh, as the capital cities of both countries, have faced many similar problems in dealing with urban garbage and maintenance of the urban environment, adding that Beijing is willing to share its successful experience with Phnom Penh as well as to cooperate with Phnom Penh in solving such problems in order to further promote the friendly relations between the two capital cities.
Nuon Someth thanked Beijing for donation urgently needed sanitation trucks to Phnom Penh. He said that with the continuous expansion and increase of the size and population of the city, the garbage produced every day in Phnom Penh has reached to more than 1,500 tons. So, good job in urban sanitation and waste disposal has become a major problem facing the Phnom Penh Municipality.
However, both Liang and Nuon believed that with the in-depth development of friendship between Beijing and Phnom Penh as well as the closer friendly exchanges, there are broad prospects for cooperation between the two cities in urban development, especially in the garbage treatment and to beautify the environment.
