Former U.S. President James Carter will visit China next week, Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Jiang Yu said Thursday.
Besides Beijing, Carter will also visit China's economic hub, Shanghai, and central China's Hunan Province during his six-day visit that starts Sept. 5, Jiang told a regular press briefing.
Carter is scheduled to attend a conference on international sister cities in Shanghai and the fourth China Zhijiang International Peace and Culture Festival in Hunan, Jiang said.
