China to invest 2.5 mln USD in projects for Ecuador

China will invest about 2.5 million U.S. dollars in Ecuador on projects in telecommunication, technology, agriculture and clean energy projects, Chinese ambassador to Ecuador Yuan Guisen said on Tuesday.

The investment will come from Chinese businessmen who are interested in investing in a variety of sectors, Yuan told the state-run Andes news agency.

"Ecuador has a lot of advantages in many sectors, for example, in science and technology," Yuan said, adding that a group of Chinese businessmen will arrive in Ecuador Thursday to explore investment opportunities and to expand the bilateral trade between the two countries.

"This mission is aimed at expanding the export of Ecuadorian products to the Chinese markets, so that it's the the right products for our market," he said.

Ecuador "can become an export power to China of agriculture, milk and seafood products," said Yuan.

The Chinese delegation will meet with Ecuadorian authorites in the Foreign Ministry where they will discuss trade, cooperation and other investments topics.

The Ecuadorian delegates at the meeting will present government projects for sustainable forest development.
