Chinese ambassador inaugurates classroom in Chilean high school

China's Ambassador to Chile Lu Fan on Thursday inaugurated the Confucius Classroom in the Girls' High School No. 1 in the Chilean capital.
In his inauguration speech, Lu Fan said the new institution will allow students to "increase their knowledge on Chinese language and culture, as well as help facilitate students' needs during their education."
"This creates trust among the young people and that is important because the future belong to the young people and this is a tool for them to help themselves in their life," said Lu Fan.
Lu Fan also expressed his joy for the inauguration of the new classroom as this "is the second school which opens a Confucius Hall and I think that helps a lot" when foreign students are trying to increase their understanding and knowledge of Chinese culture."
The ceremony was presided by School Director Julia Alvarado Thimeo while the participation of a large number of officials of the education sector, including officials of the Chinese embassy, Chinese language professors, professors from the national institute, as well as students and professors of the school itself.
"This effort is aimed to open the world' s door to these girls, for in a globalization context they can use the necessary tools for their professional and personal progress," Alvarado said.
