Israeli army launches strikes on Gaza, killing 7 Palestinians |

Seven Palestinians have been killed and six others wounded on Wednesday morning when the Israeli forces launched attacks against Gaza Strip militants, eyewitnessesand medical sources reported.
It was the first series of tough military operations launched by the Israeli air force after Hamas took control of the Gaza Strip on June 14 following days of infighting with Fatah militants.
Moa'weya Hassanein, chief of emergency at Gaza Shiffa Hospital,told reporters that seven Palestinians were killed and six others wounded in three separate Israeli operations in central and southern Gaza Strip.
Eyewitnesses said three Palestinian militants were killed and three civilians were injured as an Israeli army tank shell hit a house in Sheja'eya neighborhood in eastern Gaza City.
The three militants were all members of the al-Qassam Brigades,Hamas armed wing, said Hamas members.
A fourth Palestinian militant, member of the Islamic Jihad (Holy War) armed wing al-Quds Brigades, was killed in Gaza City when his car was hit by one air-to-ground missile fired by an Israeli aircraft, said the eyewitnesses.
Hassanein confirmed that Shiffa Hospital received four bodies and three injured persons in two separate Israeli army attacks.
Meanwhile, three more Palestinian militants were killed in southern Gaza Strip -- one being a member of the al-Quds Brigades,one being a Hamas member and the other being member of the Hamas executive forces.
Eyewitnesses said the former two were killed in an exchange of fire with Israeli army forces that stormed into the village of Khuza'a, east of Khan Younis in southern Gaza Strip. The third onewas killed in a bomb explosion.
In another development, the al-Quds Brigades claimed responsibility for launching two homemade rockets at the town of Sderout in southern Israel, which caused no injuries.
