Malaysia to crack down on Singaporean gangsters |

Malaysia's Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak ordered the police to stop gangsterism activities by Singaporeans believed to have masterminded organized crime in Johor on Thursday, local media reported on Friday.
He was commenting on an article carried on by a local Malay daily which quoted Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Musa Hassanas saying that a criminal gang from Singapore was involved in organized crime in Malaysia's southernmost state of Johor.
Musa had said the gang was among the 7 involved in criminal activities in Johor.
"It does not matter where they are from, whether they are localgangsters or from outside. If we find them, we will take firm action against them," Najib was quoted by the New Straits Times assaying.
He also expressed confidence in the police's ability to act against these gangs.
The involvement of Singaporean criminal gangs in Johor was not related to the development of the Iskandar Development Region (Iskandar).
Iskandar, encompasses 2,217 square km of land in Johor. It is envisioned to be the leading new growth engine in Malaysia.
