At least one civilian was killed and four others were wounded in a car bomb explosion in southern Baghdad on Sunday, an Interior Ministry source said. "A car bomb parking near al-Hussein Square in the predominantly Shiite neighborhood of Jadriyah exploded in the afternoon, killing at least one civilian and wounding four others," the source told Xinhua on condition of anonymity.
The blast damaged several nearby shops and civilian cars, he said. The toll could rise as ambulances and security forces rushed to the scene to evacuate the casualties, he said.
Violence continued in the capital despite five months of U.S. and Iraqi security plan aiming at putting rampant violence under control.
