A clash in eastern Afghanistan killed several insurgents and injured 10 Afghan soldiers, a statement of Defense Ministry said Tuesday.
Afghan soldiers carried out an operation in Barmal district of Paktika province on Monday and killed several militants, the statement said.
Ten Afghan soldiers were also injured in the clash, it added.
Paktika has been a stronghold of Taliban rebels, who clash with government and foreign forces frequently.
Due to rising Taliban insurgency, over 3,000 persons, most of whom were Taliban militants, have been killed in Afghanistan this year.
