A U.S. marine has died of non- combat related cause in Iraq's western province of Anbar, the U.S. military said on Wednesday.
The marine died on Monday, the military said in a statement without providing further details.
The incident is under investigation, it added.
In a separate statement, the U.S. military said that more than 9,000 U.S. and Iraqi troops launched a new operation on Sunday dubbed "Operation Mawtini" aimed at neutralizing any future attempts by insurgents to re-establish a presence in key urban areas along the Euphrates River valley.
Earlier in the day, the military said that two soldiers were killed Tuesday in a roadside bomb explosion near their vehicle in western Baghdad.
The latest deaths bring the number of U.S. soldiers killed in Iraq to about 3,620 since the Iraq war broke out in March 2003, according to media count based on Pentagon figures.
