Russia and the United States will jointly hold exercises codenamed Torgau-2007 at a U.S. training ground in Germany later this year, a senior Russian Defense Ministry official said Wednesday.

"The exercises Torgau will be held on the German territory at Grafenwehr Range. They will follow a simplified scenario," the chief of the ministry's international cooperation department, Lieutenant-General Yevgeny Buzhinsky, was quoted by the Itar-Tass news agency as saying.

A battalion from each side will be involved in the exercises during which American and Russian servicemen will drill interaction and interoperability, Buzhinsky said.
