Four people were killed and two others were wounded Monday morning in a shooting incident in Atlanta, in the southeastern U.S. state of Georgia, CNN reported.

The incident occurred at around 7 a.m. local time in a home in south Atlanta, and the victims were believed to be related.

Atlanta police spokeswoman Judy Pal told the television that the gunman was found in the house, and it was apparently a murder-suicide.

The two wounded were rushed to hospital and were in critical condition, she said.

It was not known immediately what had caused the gunman to shoot.
