Two U.S. soldiers were killed and another injured in two incidents in northern Iraq on Thursday, the U.S. military said on Friday.

A soldier was killed and another was wounded when an explosion struck their vehicle in the volatile province of Diyala, the military said in a statement.

The wounded soldier was transported to a U.S. medical facility for treatment, it added.

Another soldier died in non-combat related incident in the province of Ta'mim near the provincial capital Kirkuk, some 250 km north of Baghdad, a separate statement said without elaboration.

The incident is under investigation, it added.

The latest deaths bring the number of U.S. soldiers who have been killed in Iraq to about 3,794 since the outbreak of the Iraqi war in 2003, according to media count based on Pentagon figures.
