An American soldier has died of non-battle wounds in Iraq, the U.S. military said on Saturday.

The Task Force Marne soldier died on Friday, a military statement said, without providing further details about where and how the incident took place.

The incident is under investigation, it added.

The name of soldier is being withheld pending notification of next of kin, the statement said.

The latest death brings the number of U.S. soldiers who have been killed in Iraq to about 3,795 since the outbreak of the Iraqi war in 2003, according to media count based on Pentagon figures.
