Syrian President Bashar al-Assadis scheduled to pay an official visit to Turkey on Tuesday, the official SANA news agency reported on Monday.
During his two-day visit to Ankara, his second trip since taking office in 2000, Assad will hold talks with senior Turkish officials on issues of common interest, SANA said.
The latest developments in the region, particularly in Iraq, the Palestinian territories and Lebanon, and a U.S.-proposed Middle East peace conference to be held this fall were expected to be discussed during the talks.
Turkish Foreign Minister Ali Babacan had just paid a visit to Damascus over a week ago during which the two sides exchanged views on regional issues.
Assad visited Turkey in 2004, the first ever by a Syrian head of state to its northern neighbor.
