Iran on Monday lashed out at U.S. troops for their alleged burning of a holy Koran during a raid in neighboring Afghanistan, the official IRNA news agency reported.
The "desecration of the holy book by the U.S. troops in Afghanistan" has hurt the feelings of the Muslims across the world, Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Mohammad-Ali Hosseini said.
He urged all Muslims, their governments and the Organization of the Islamic Countries (OIC) "to express their hatred over the heinous act of U.S. occupiers in dealing with the Islamic sanctities."
Villagers in the eastern Afghan province of Kunar alleged that U.S. soldiers ripped, knifed and burned a Koran during the raid on an Afghan home on Saturday morning.
The U.S. military said on Monday that it had looked into the allegations but found no evidence that soldiers had defaced the Muslim holy book. Source:Xinhua
