The frozen body of a one-year-old girl was found Wednesday in western Canada after her three-year-old sister was found frozen to death a day earlier.
Their father is still in hospital under treatment for hypothermia and frostbite, Canadian Broadcasting Corporation reported.
The tragic deaths happened on the Yellow Quill First Nation in the province of Saskatchewan. The whole community was shocked, Yellow Quill First Nation Chief Robert Whitehead said.
The father of the girls was picked up by police Tuesday and sent to hospital. But he waited until eight hours later to tell police his daughters were missing.
Police believe the man left his residence with his children to go to another house about 400 meters away. The three-year-old girl, wearing only a diaper and T-shirt, was found between the two homes. Her sister was found in the same area.
An influx of Arctic air had much of Canada in a deep-freeze these days, with reports of temperatures as low as minus 60 degrees Celsius, forecasters said. Source: Xinhua
