Director of the U.S. Federation Bureau of Investigation (FBI) Robert Mueller III said his agency wanted to strengthen cooperation with Vietnam on law enforcement and other issues amid rising transnational crime, local newspaper Young People reported Thursday.

In his discussions with officials at the Vietnamese Ministry of Public Security on Jan. 30 in Hanoi, Mueller thanked the Vietnamese government for its cooperation on law enforcement issues, noting that the FBI wanted to further cooperation with the country on the issue and many other important things.

On Jan. 31, he is scheduled to preside over a ceremony marking the opening of a U.S. Legal Attache Office in Cambodia. The new office, the 60th of its kind in the world, will serve both Cambodia and Vietnam.
