The Iranian embassy in Lebanon revealed Thursday that three Iranian diplomats and a photographer, kidnapped in Lebanon in 1982, are still alive and held in Israel, Local Naharnet website reported.
On the 26th anniversary of their kidnapping, the Iranian embassy said in a statement that the information is based on statements by former released detainees from Israel.
"Our brother diplomats kidnapped in 1982 during the Zionist invasion of Lebanon are still detained in Israel," Iranian Charge d'Affaires Mojtaba Ferdowsi-Pour said.
The Christian militia Lebanese forces (LF) which detained the four Iranians at a checkpoint were allied with Israel during the 1982 Israeli invasion.
The Iranian embassy announcement came at a time when Israel andHezbollah reached a swap deal to exchange prisoners between the two sides.
The swap deal also included that Israel should provide details on the fate of the four Iranians to UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon.
