Iran's top nuclear negotiator and Supreme National Security Council Secretary Saeed Jalili Friday said that Iran will offer response to the letter of EU Foreign Policy Chief Javier Solana and foreign ministers of six major countries on Friday, the official IRNA news agency reported.
"The Islamic Republic of Iran has based on an agreement reached with Solana, prepared and offered response to his and the six states' foreign ministers' letter with an approach of concentrating on commonalities and with a constructive and creative attitude," said Jalili in a phone call with Solana.
"On this basis, the Islamic Republic of Iran's response to letter of foreign ministers of six states and the EU Foreign Policy Chief will be delivered today," he was quoted by IRNA as saying.
Solana in the telephone conversation expressed pleasure over agreement for the resumption of talks, thanking Iran for its goodwill of responding to the letter.
"I am confident that in light of positive measures, the atmosphere of talks will become constructive and promising," he was quoted by IRNA as saying, adding that the six powers and he would not seek an action which would blur the ongoing positive atmosphere.
The two sides reached agreement on holding talks in mid-July in the phone call, IRNA reported.
Solana handed over an updated package of incentives proposed by six major countries--Britain, China, France, Germany, Russia and the United States and a letter from foreign ministers of the six countries and himself to Iranian Foreign Minister Manouchehr Mottaki last month.
