The Indonesian military (TNI) has no plan to reinforce its personnel stationed near the Indonesia-Timor Leste border following the shooting of President Jose Ramos-Horta early Monday, a spokesman said.
"The decision on whether or not to reinforce personnel largely depends on the results of the government's assessment of domestic situation in Timor Leste following Monday's political chaos," Antara news agency quoted Head of the TNI Headquarters' Information Service Center Rear Marshal Sagom Tamboen as saying on Monday.
He said security maintenance efforts near the borders were running as usual without any increase in activity.
Security agencies would step up patrol along the land borders to anticipate a possible exodus of people from Timor Leste to the Indonesian territory, he said.
