The bomb disposal unit of the Indonesian police on Monday defused a suspicious package found at the Tanjung Priok Port and brought it to an empty area nearby and exploded it.
The package contains a device assembled with iron pipe and cables, looking typically like home-made bombs used in a number of attacks by local militants.
It was found at the container terminal of the country's busiest seaport in North Jakarta by a cleaning service worker identified as Nurdin, reported leading news website Detikcom.
The officers came at around 14:00 local time (07:00 GMT) and combed the area with detectors, but didn't find other suspicious devices.
